Driven by the Emir’s mother Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Located on the western edge of Doha, Education City is a campus that spreads over 1,000 hectares or 2,500 acres. Education City is an initiative of Qatar Foundation for Science, Technology, Education and Community Development. Located in Al Rayyan Municipality, it is the home of some of the world’s major Universities, Qatar National Library, a centre for Islamic Studies, Mathaf Museum (the home to the world’s largest collection of Modern Art), Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, Al Shaqab Horse Racing Academy and Oxygen Park.

Education City Mosque(30 min)


Education City Mosque (QFIS Mosque),is located in the Minaretein building, which rests on five large columns representing the five pillars of Islam, In 2016, the building was nominated by the Royal Institute of British Architects(RIBA) for its inaugural international prize. In 2015, it won the Best Religious Building prize at the World Architecture Festival (WAF) in Singapore. The mosque was designed by the architectural team of Mangera Yvars.

Mathaf Arab Museum of Modern Art(1 hour)


Mathaf Collection, co-owned by Qatar Museums and Qatar Foundation, is now holding over 9,000 works, making it the world’s largest specialised collection of its kind. An initial group of works was gathered by H.E. Sheikh Hassan bin Mohammed bin Ali Al Thani.
